Discover the Young Leaders that participated in the Biennale of Luanda 2021!

Over a hundred young leaders responded to UNESCO's call for nominations in June 2021. These immature people come from Africa and its many diasporas and are leaders in their communities. They participated in the Biennale of Luanda 2021 as part of the Intergenerational Dialogue. These youths organised their discussion in person and online around the central theme:"Cultural and Heritage Diversity of Africa and its Diasporas: Fires of Disharmonize or Ground of Peace?" which was itself divided into 4 themes and x sub-themes.

THEME i - THE CONTRIBUTION OF ARTS, Culture AND HERITAGE TO SUSTAINABLE PEACE

This theme echoes, celebrates and accompanies the Twelvemonth 2021 of the African Union: "Arts, culture and heritage: Levers for building the Africa we want." It also refers to Aspiration 5 of the Calendar 2063 and to the 2021 International Year of the Creative Economy for Sustainable Development. This word explored recent noesis on how creative civilisation and heritage interact with conflict, reconciliation and efforts to build more peaceful societies. It as well highlighted the ways in which artists, creators and heritage practitioners are helping to prevent, mitigate and support recovery from the furnishings of conflict, inequality and the COVID-19 pandemic.

THEME 2 - ENGAGING YOUNG PEOPLE As ACTORS OF SOCIAL TRANSFORMATIONS FOR CONFLICT PREVENTION AND SUSTAINABLE Evolution

This Forum intended to demonstrate that there is an alternative narrative to that which depicts young people equally perpetrators or victims of violence; alternative story highlighting the lived experiences and daily efforts of young women and men engaged every bit actors of social transformations for conflict prevention and for sustainable evolution, through various activities and projects at community, national, regional and continental levels.

THEME three - AFRICA AND ITS DIASPORAS IN THE Face OF CONFLICTS, CRISES AND INEQUALITY

Despite enormous avails that tin can create positive conditions for a sustainable culture of peace and prosperity, Africa still maintains a persistent barbarous cycle of insecurity, social inequality, and natural and human disasters. This Forum therefore aimed to explore and present the efforts and catalyst initiatives that tin can fight confronting inequalities and violence, reduce poverty and prevent conflicts by exploiting the stiff strategic potential (in terms of demography and natural resources) of the Africa in building sustainable peace and development.

THEME iv - HARNESSING THE POTENTIAL OF OCEANS FOR SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT AND PEACE

Africa'due south coastal and ocean waters occupy three times the land mass and are growing in importance every bit a potential source of economical growth and jobs for the region. In connectedness with the African Decade of Seas and Oceans (2015-2025) and the Un Decade of Body of water Sciences for Sustainable Development (2021-2030), this 4th Forum offered the opportunity to mobilize stakeholders in the bounding main to ensure that Africa harnesses ocean science and research to make the all-time apply of its blue economy potential and preclude potential conflicts.
